Professional Development

At Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco, we have a stake in the growth and development of our people. We encourage our attorneys and staff to seek out opportunities to learn and grow professionally, and we acknowledge those who choose to make professional development a priority. We believe in open communication and understand the value of training and development as it impacts both firm performance and the satisfaction of our people.

Our professional development program is rooted in a commitment to developing programs that promote:

  • Achievement orientation
  • Client focus
  • Team focus
  • Reinforcement of our business strategy and objectives
  • Compatibility with culture
  • Clearly defined standards
  • Process integration
  • Individual growth

We believe that a well designed professional development program promotes knowledge and skill development, improves communication and job satisfaction, ensures full use of technology and resources, and creates an environment where attorneys and staff will thrive.

Our programs include both formal and informal training and development opportunities, as well as a mentoring program for new associates. We use consultants and firm lawyers to conduct in-house training sessions, many of which are CLE accredited. This provides our attorneys with practice specific, substantive training, and assists with the completion of annual CLE requirements. WNCW also supports participation in professional organizations and external development programs.

In addition, WNCW has established an Attorney Development Committee tasked with identifying opportunities for attorney professional development, providing substantive practice specific training, overseeing the firm’s mentoring program, and educating attorneys about the business aspects of the practice of law. The committee also provides associates with a forum for communication regarding their developmental needs.

We believe that a well-designed professional development program promotes optimal integration, enrichment and retention of our people.
